Located 10km from Sarlat-la-Caneda (France), the Réserve Zoologique de Calviac is home to 200 animals (45 species) from 5 geographical areas (Eurasia, Madagascar, South America, Oceania, West Africa) along 2 km of shaded paths.
The Réserve Zoologique de Calviac is specialized in endangered species (according to IUCN criteria), from global biodiversity hotspots.
Within the EAZA network, the Réserve Zoologique de Calviac participates in some 32 breeding programs (EEP). At the same time, we work on the protection of endangered species in their natural environment through 7 action programs.
By paying your entrance fee, you help the Reserve (a non-profit institution) to implement its endangered species conservation mission. If you would like to get more involved, you can become a volunteer, member or simply make a donation!
The Reserve's involvement in the conservation of endangered species
The conservation of endangered species in their natural environment (in situ conservation) should be considered as the priority action if we want to act in the most effective way.
This is why we have established partnerships in France (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), Madagascar, Brazil, Ivory Coast and Nepal.
